Joe – Get It Together

I am a die-hard Yankee fan through and through.  With that being said, I am not the type of fan who cannot recognize when their team needs to work out a few “kinks,” aka Patriots fans, or a person who will ask for the manager to be burned on the stake for making a few mistakes, aka all Chicago fans.  As a former coach and player myself, I cannot fathom why Yankee pitchers are continuing to throw to Chase Utley.  The man is God-like right now.  He can do no wrong at the plate.  Put it anywhere in range of his bat and he’s going to make you pay.  And he has.  Utley is batting .333 in the series with 5 homers and 8 RBIs.  The Phillies have scored 24 runs in the World Series. Chase alone accounts for 1/3 of those runs.  He’s already the MVP of the World Series and it’s not even over. Hello? Joe? Think about it.  There’s no way that as a manager you can justify ever putting a pitch anywhere near that man at the plate, let alone even in the stadium.  Throw one toward the dugout, I’m sure he’ll move over and take it yard.  If George Steinbrenner was even functional right now, he’d have Girardi’s picture on the back of the New York Post with a quote about him getting canned.  Unfortunately, George is not his regular stone-for-a-heart self and thus the Yanks are still pitching to Chase Utley.  I say activate Freddy Guzman. Then bring him in to give Chase the A-Rod treatment and if he gets ejected, so be it.  There should be absolutely no reason not to intentionally walk him.  Even with the bases loaded, WALK HIM.  Its one run vs four we are talking about.  Joe, you are a great manager, drop the hardass-Yankee pride routine and stop pitching to Utley.
