Are LeBron James’ actions unprecedented or foreshadowing?
Over the last couple of nights, LeBron James has begun a career path for himself that does not seem to include Cleveland, OH. James is one of the most talented, most well-known and also most well spoken young players in all of sports, not just the NBA. He has been straight forward about wanting to be a billionaire and his desire to be one of the greatest players the Association has ever seen. Here are the facts surrounding LBJ’s plan to exit Cleveland:
- Before Wednesday’s game against the Orlando Magic, James stated that he no longer plans to discuss his future after this season claiming that it “is getting old”
- He then proceeded to play the game in Yankees tribute shoes that read “27″ on one toe and “New York” on the other
- Thursday night LBJ confirmed that Dwayne Wade and himself have discussed playing together starting at the Olympics
- LBJ also confirmed last night that after this season he will be switching his number from “23″ to “6″
Now, here at 23/7 Sports, nothing would have delighted us more than Lebron going from 23 to 7, but 6? We have read that LeBron has stated several gold medal and family reasons why the number 6 is important to him and we wish him nothing but the best of luck in that number. However, the switch is what I believe is the dead giveaway for where LeBron plans to end up. This locale is not where his beloved New York Yankees are from either. Those clues are used to help show the exit, not the destination. King James’ private jet is believed to be landing with a Miami Heat welcoming.
Miami, like LeBron, has always had an extreme respect for Michael Jordan. This is backed by the Heat retiring MJ’s number 23 in the rafters of American Airlines Arena. After Thursday night’s game, LeBron spoke about playing against Dwayne Wade, Jordan’s newest henchman, and the respect he has for Michael after seeing him on hand for the Cavs vs. Heat game. LeBron respects MJ so much, and still thinks he should be the logo instead of Jerry “The Logo” West, that he will start a petition for no one to wear the number 23 league wide. James then went on to say, “Now, if I’m not going to wear number 23, then nobody else should be able to wear it.”
After hearing this, the thought comes to mind – If he is not going to where the number 23, is it because it is already hanging in the rafters?
Congratulations South Beach! Arriving summer 2010 – the King.

Bold prediction. I like it.
It just makes more sense. I can totally see him teaming with D. Wade. Cannot see him in LA as a Clipper with that horrible owner.
