Really? Pearl, Bryant, Obama, TW, and Wrigley

Really Bruce Pearl? Not only did you violate NCAA rules by hosting a BBQ at your home for recruits, but then you allowed those recruits to photograph the event. Really? Has Michael Phelps taught you nothing? However, it would be unfair to place the blame entirely on you. When you coach at the same university as Lane Kiffin, NCAA infractions become the norm.

Really Outside the Lines? You made the focus of your November 19th report on Kobe Bryant’s appearance in the Call of Duty: Black Ops commercial. Bob Ley and a five member panel proposed arguments for and against the ethics of an iconic professional sports figure appearing in an advertisement with a weapon. Really? Have you seen the commercial? I had an obligation to purchase the game at midnight thanks to the genius behind Call of Duty’s marketing team. I did not however find myself with the urge to actually purchase a weapon. Applause goes out to one of the members in the forum for comparing this ad to Allen Iverson releasing a music album that was considered violent. Lately, I’ve found it difficult to determine reality from the subliminal messages Allen and Kobe released promoting me to behave violently. I am forever in your debt ‘Black Mamba’.

Really Obama? I distinctly remember a specific Sports Center where you promised to push your weight around in favor for a post season college football playoff. Although my personal beliefs have coincided with the outcomes of all but one national championship (Auburn 2004), what other sport results in multiple teams with an undefeated record? You’ve passed almost all your legislation up until now. So where is the playoff system? With the SEC having won six of the twelve BCS national championships, I find it difficult to fathom a non-automatic qualifying school to trump the polls this season.

Really Tiger Woods? You’re just now getting on Twitter? Enough said.

Really Illinois & Northwestern? I remember when I first learned the rules of football. One team gets to choose how they want to play field direction to their advantage and the other team gets to choose which half they receive the ball. Instead of following the tradition of annual college football, you find it more important to follow the tradition of playing a football game at Wrigley Field once every century.

  • Nicely Done. This needs to be a weekly article!

  • Agreed. Definitely a weekly article.

  • Lane Kiffin doesn't coach at UT anymore.

    • I think he understands that.

  • Hilarious. Classic. Do it weekly. P.S. Tiger doesn't need a Twitter account. We have all kinds of people testifying his whereabouts and activity.

  • I was baffled myself when I found out that OTLines was doing a story on that COD commercial. Right back to when Wolfenstein 3D came out and the newspapers (only media at the time really) were afraid that kids wouldn't know the difference. Kids will know the difference, if their ignant parents merely explain it to them. Nice post. Bob Ley is on notice.

  • Maybe Tiger just ran out of things to get on. Do you see what I did there?
